The beautiful outdoor eating area was perfect for a warm, autumn day. The food and service was a little bit slow but it seems it is part of the experience. Drink your wine slowly and after your meal take a stroll through the vineyards. Stunning.
Hhmmm where to start. The lunch special that is advertised for R250 per person seems like a good deal. However if you look at their menu the same starter, dessert and a similar main with a bottle of wine works out to be cheaper if ordered off the menu. However if you look at their menu the same starter, dessert and a similar main with a bottle of wine works out to be cheaper if ordered off the menu. We decided not to have the lunch special as I am not a tourist but a local. We asked our waitress about the price difference and she seemed slightly embarrassed and could not answer us. Having said that, the Bone marrow starter and Babotie where delicious. Great Le Pommier Rose, unfortunately our dessert that we ordered....apple pie did not arrive with our cappuccinos. 25 minutes later it still had not arrived. Our waitress said that they were warming it up. I think it was because 2 tour busses had arrived full of tourists. We cancelled the apple pie. Service is lacking which goes hand in hand with good food. Pity as it is a very picturesque venue.

Unfortunately the vegetable soup was more like a stew and the mushroom risotto was terrible. My vegetarian friend really only enjoyed the bread. Otherwise the chicken liver starter was nice, as were the crumbed mushrooms and onion rings. The banhoek trio was very tasty and all three of us enjoyed that. The apple crumble with cream was actually apple strudel with no cream, so a bit disappointing.
Granted we were a big table of 10; but service was slow (restaurant was not busy; expected better)
No ambiance; will probably be better as a lunch venue.

Food was nice, but nothing wow, very mediocre...unfortunately the "nice' turned to very poor when 7 out of the 10 of our group ended up with Stomach Issues from the next morning, leaving us with wasted weekends spend curled up and cramping - coincidence; I think not...
