Loved the freshness of all the food.
The highlights for us were definitely the Prawn Dumplings in the Tom Yum Broth and the Sichuan Pancakes with the scallions.

What a delight! A journey of tastes! Every dish served beautifully and perfectly satisfying in taste. Amazing vegetarian dishes packed full of flavour. Our favourite find so far!

Great Eastern is always notable for interesting flavour combinations and excellent value. We had a lovely lunch -- in particular, the sardines, chicken meatballs and Manchurian vegetables were delicious. We also appreciated the wide range of vegetarian options. Thank you!

Our family of four visited The Great Eastern Food Bar for the first time during Restaurant Week and was pleasantly surprised by this incredible Asian eatery in its unassuming location in Melville. The food definitely takes centre stage here. We normally won't order the amount of food that we had through the Restaurant Week set menu, and would probably not have spent as much, but the sublime flavours we tasted were well worth the price. We can't wait to return and try the other dishes on the menu ... or perhaps order their sashimi tacos, coconut rice, cauliflower bites, etc. again!

1. Do I need to pay upfront?

At most restaurants, you can make reservations for free and cancel them without any charge. You'll settle the bill when you dine at the restaurant. However, some restaurants may request a small deposit, and they will send a prepayment request via Dineplan to confirm your reservation.

4. Are drinks included in the menu price?

In most deals, drinks are not included.

5. How can I change my reservation?

7. Is cancellation free?

Yes, you can always cancel for free.

If you have made a prepayment via Dineplan, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your reservation. The amount you paid in advance will be automatically refunded to your account. Refunds through Dineplan should be resolved in communication with the restaurant, and we are not directly involved in this process.

8. Until when can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation online up to 8 hours in advance, or by phone up to 1 hour before your reservation time. However, we kindly request that you cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make your reservation.

During Restaurant Week South Africa, you can indulge in a fabulous 3-course dinner at over 140 of the finest restaurants in South Africa, starting at ZAR 295.00 per person. Restaurant Week South Africa is held twice a year, in Autumn and Spring.
