This was a new introduction to us … and what a lovely surprise! The hearty food was amazing and it is clearly a place to mark for family gatherings – intimate with friendly, attentive staff. We never had to look for a waiter and everything was presented as requested. Come hungry, the portions are not stingy :) And if you wondered, YES, we will be back!
Just a beautiful hidden gem 😊excellent plating

Portion sizes are very good and we should have stopped after main. Should have :-).
We were 3 people so we each ordered a different meal and as it goes we had to establish who ordered the best meal. The winners were:
- Starter: Springbok Carpaccio
- Main: Close contest but in the end the lamb shank came up tops over delicious lamb cutlets and a fillet steak.
- Dessert: Inconclusive result between Chocolate Lava / Peppermint Crisp Tart / Apple Crumble
The venue is mainly outside in a lovely garden setting, so it will be interesting to see what they do in winter or when it rains. We are likely to find out as we are guaranteed to visit again.
Good day Marisa

The chocolate volcano dessert was to die for
My fillet done yo perfection. The reason I'm not giving them 5 star, its because of their vegetables they were bit overcooked for my liking.
Good day Nonhlanhla

We were treated to a complimentary entrée of deep fried green beans and onion rings, served with a creamy mustard dip which was refreshing and something different.
For starters we selected their Tempura prawns and Salmon croquettes. The prawns were big and juicy and served with a light butter sauce. Both these elements were very tasty although the tempura coating was a bit oily. The croquettes, which were served with a tartare sauce and crumbled feta, was flavoursome and light (one could just have an entire plate with this little balls).
For mains we enjoyed a Lamb Shank and the Chicken Breasts.
The Shank, which was juicy and well favoured, fell off the bone and was delicious. The chicken breasts were equally well prepared, being wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese, nuts and mango and covered in a pink peppercorn sauce. The combination of the bacon, creamy sauce and cheese made this a very rich dish (but very recommendable).
For sides we selected their grilled vegetables and pumpkin fritters. The vegetables were well seasoned while the fritters were beautifully fluffy covered in a sweet sticky sauce (and would have been ideal with a bit of Vanilla ice cream for desert).
The Manager on duty as well as the waiter serving us were friendly and eager to make all the patrons visiting, a welcome one.
Good day Ockert

About PepperTree
Cuisine: Modern
Our story began when Helen de Beer opened the doors to PepperTree Restaurant at the beginning of 2019. She is not only the owner but also the talented head supervisor chef.
Our restaurant was established to cater for all the Opikopi Guest House guests that required dining in the evening.
After receiving many requests from guests to open up the restaurant so that more people could enjoy our food, that is exactly what we did. PepperTree is located on the premises of Opikopi Guest House, in Erasmuskloof, Eastern Pretoria.
We are licensed to sell alcohol, and PepperTree is registered with the Restaurant Association of South Africa.
Good day Karin
