About Café Felix
The restaurant was named after Felix, the owners' cheeky black cat. (Felix was a throwaway cat rescued from a certain death in Wynberg park). It was later discovered that there are many other Café Felixes around the globe, producing an interesting variety of food. One of the interesting ones is Café Felix in Zurich, which apparently is a very appealing café with the most incredible aromas of chocolate (the only trouble is to get a table over weekends because of the long queues). There is a Café Felix in Anchorage, Alaska that is apparently popular for its great organic food and tea.
For exquisite Cuban and Spanish food there is the Felix Continental Café in Orange, California. Then there is the French Bistro in Ann Arbor Michigan, owned by the brothers Landrum, and popular for their Tapas. The list just goes on from Stuttgart to Moncton to Budapest to Wellington in New Zealand...
The menu started as a clone of the popular Olympia Café and Deli in Kalkbay. Since then the menu has evolved slowly and today the cuisine at Café Felix can be described as sumptuous French-Italian inspired country cuisine.
