For the first time we went to Anatoli in Cape Town. What a wonderful experience. From the first minutes you feeling like on holidays in Turkey. Inside this former Victorian warehouse built in 1904 it looks like you are walking through the narrow streets of old Istanbul or Izmir. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Explained the dishes very good. We loved every piece of our different dishes. Lots of garlic which is the real taste of Turkey. Glad we made this trip for Diner. Definitely coming back.

So pleasantly surprised by the delicious Turkish creations, carefully plated and large portions. We came as a group of friends and was seated in a lovely open table. The design is kitschy and reminds me of Istanbul’s grand bazaar market.

Best dishes:

The falafel plate was amazing with tzatziki, hummus and garlic Turkish bread which was perfect for dipping.

Baby kingklip with pearl couscous

Lamb ribs with garlic mashed

Pro tip: bring mints for the garlic bread and go on the weekends for the belly dancer

About Anatoli Mediterranean Restaurant

Cuisine: Mediterranean, Turkish

Anatoli is one of Cape Town’s longest-established restaurants, but is receiving a rejuvenating makeover, with a transition to authentic Mediterranean foods, and introducing a new Vegan Tasting Menu. The kitchen is headed up by passionate Chef Jacques du Toit, a master at bringing out the best in his dishes, with a mix of Mediterranean spices. Chef Jacques is passionate about spices, his favorites being sumac, coriander, cumin, and cinnamon. He is a creative creator of unique dishes, and flavourful food.

Anatoli is an informal, homely, lively, long-established authentic Mediterranean restaurant serving generous portions of flavourful foods, including magic mezzes, aromatic main courses, and delicious desserts, all beautifully presented. On most Saturdays a belly dancer is in the house.

Anatoli serves a pre-Dinner Aperitif consisting of 4 Mezzes (Hummus, Ezme, Mixed olives, and Tzatziki), half a flatbread, and a glass of red or white wine, at R75, from 16h00 - 18h00. Dinner is served from 18h00. It currently offers three menu options: an À la Carte Menu, a Vegan Tasting Menu, and a special Restaurant Week Menu (1 April - 2 May).
