The Pride of India is a Pretoria institution and their new home in Hazelwood does not disappoint. The menu for the Restaurant Week was interesting and allowed the diner to try out different dishes. We had a tasty flavourful meal. Well worth the visit.

We had a lovely time and the food was amazing! We didn't have to wait long and we had a manager come ask twice if we were happy, which was really nice. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the unexpected price of R40.00 for a 750ml bottle of water! ALSO a strange man approached us and asked if he can take a photo of us, we mentioned that we don't have any cash and he said that he would be able to put it on the bill and we felt very uncomfortable and pressurized to take the photo. He then mentioned that it is R150.00! We then left it and when the bill came it was R155.00. Firstly management should not allow a man that makes the staff feel uncomfortable to offer a service in the restaurant and secondly ask such a ridiculous fee for a photo that we now need to go collect!! .... Except for the bad experience with the camera man, the food and service was lovely.

28 October 20014 we climbed the stairs to Pride of India Restaurant 43 George Storrar Street, Groenkloof Pretoria.
A friendly Front of House Manager greeted us and took us to our reserved table.
Mitch Bhima, the Executive Chef introduced himself to us and made sure that we receive the bet service. He explained the menu, made suggestions from the very comprehensive wine list and kept us happy customers for the rest of the evening.
The advertisement reads: “The best Indian Cuisine in Pretoria is served at The Pride of India Restaurant including new Fusion Gourmet Dishes.” The definitely lived up to their promise.

The menu started with a small cold pumpkin soup infused with saffron and ginger. Soft beautifully preparing the palate for the next courses. We had the Gosht Mirch Signature dish and the Butter Chicken accompanied with a Rogni Naan and the Mushroom Rice.

For desert Mich suggested the Gulab Jamun and Kulfi Ice cream, a selection of three unique Indian flavoured ice cream combinations consisting of consisting of pistachio, barfee (saffron), rose and coconut
A most enjoyable evening, hosted well.
