Our dining experience included a toddler who was welcomed by staff and patrons. Service was a bit disappointing, having to request condiments like butter for the bread served was unexpected. All the food was well prepared and presented well. The Spanish prawns had a delicious sauce, the lamb kleftiko went well with the butternut however I found the flavor a bit more like that of a curry. The Greek milk tart was the highlight of the night, the combination of sweet and citrus was out of this world! Absolutely delicious! Overall, we enjoyed our evening. It may be worth a second visit, however keep in mind flavor profile of the food seems to be more local than Mediterranean.

Dear Jaimal

Thank you for visiting our restaurant during Restaurant Week, and for posting your review. Yes, children are always welcomed into our dining space, and we are thrilled that you enjoyed the meal overall. I would just like to set the record straight in respect of some of your comments.
Firstly, we don't serve butter with the bread that accompanies the Spanish Prawn dish you had, because the bread is not intended as an extra, but rather as a means to soak up the remaining sauce.
Secondly, I am battling to understand the reference that the flavour profile of the food is more local than Mediterranean. Your menu choices serve as reference:
'Spanish Prawns', obviously Spanish flavours
'Arancini', an Italian dish
'Kleftiko', Vegetarian 'Moussaka', and also "Galaktoboureko' (Greek milk tart) are all traditional Greek dishes
And finally, 'Creme Brulee" is French in origin.
All the above dishes and the countries they come from, are clearly Mediterranean, and something we pride ourselves on.
The term 'local' invokes images of pap, wors and chakalaka, bobotie, hamburgers, or (and I shudder at this thought) cheaper cuts of steak.

Our menu clearly states 'the many faces of European cooking', and also 'drawing on the.... heritage of the Mediterranean, we are an unashamedly South African restaurant'.

About Prosopa

Cuisine: Mediterranean, Greek, Vegetarian

Prosopa

The elegant, stylish interior designed by renowned local architect, Callie van der Merwe, creates a sophisticated, fresh atmosphere at Prosopa, situated in the heart of Waterkloof Heights.

Prosopa’s extensive Mediterranean menu is influenced by the flavours of Greece, Portugal and Spain. The signature lamb dish Kleftiko is deboned leg of lamb wrapped in vine leaves & foil stuffed with feta, fresh tomato, herbs and spices and slow roasted in the oven. An option one cannot stay away from is the fantastic array of mezze one can have on a platter or individually.

The extensive award-winning wine list offers many a gem to be enjoyed beside the fireplace on a cold winter’s night or on the veranda with the curtains blowing in a soft summer breeze.
