The food was absolutely delicious and each plate was beautifully presented - I had the Smokey Joe with a giblet pie and I must say it was one of the best things I have ever eaten! The deserts were fantastic!!
The service was excellent, the manager and waiters were friendly, professional and made us feel right at home! The waiters were well prepared on all dishes including the wine pairing, and explained every dish with such passion!
We absolutely loved the evening and will be back at De Kloof again!

Restaurant Week provided another opportunity to enjoy their innovative menu which includes a variety of unusual but flavoursome combinations. The meal lived up to the high standard that we have become accustomed to. In particular, the "Italian Warthog" starter, "African cow" main meal and "Banana split" dessert were all winners it both their flavours and presentation. The beautiful view and chilled atmosphere set the scene for a really pleasant evening. Although all the staff were all welcoming and friendly, our waiter Linden was particularly attentive and recognised us from previous visits. He was engaging but also gave us space to savour the meal and enjoy the view from our table. The chef came around towards the end of the evening and it was good to see the person responsible for all the deliciousness! Thank you De Kloof- you definately remain a favourite!

We were greeted by a very friendly young man who showed us to our table. From then on, we were treated wonderfully by the staff. They took great care in explaining the menu, as well as the particular wine pairing. The food was good and well presented. The main course portions were a little small - but sufficient with either a starter or desert. One desert was served on a wooden platter - the crust of the tartlet was extremely hard and the ice cream would have been easier to handle if served in a small cup/dish.

We pretty much felt "invisible" throughout the evening: waiters would walk straight past our table without taking our orders. We had to "flag down" a waiter to place our order. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, but the wine glasses on the table were not removed. Even after having ordered drinks, the wine list was left lying on the table. The Grindelwald starter was ok-ish, the vegetarian main course was tasty (though nothing spectacular) and the dessert had started to melt (with the waiter apologising for the kitchen being hot!). That was after the wrong dessert was initially brought to the table and my place setting not having a spoon. My partner ordered pork belly, which was so dry that she could not finish it all. Following dessert, we had to wait a long time before being able to ask for coffee..... which never arrived. So we eventually asked for the bill and left.
We sat outside: it was a lovely evening and the view over parts of Pretoria is really great.
But the restaurant does not compare to the likes of Roots, Camphors or Makaron.
Food was superb! Staff was very attentive and service was great. We visited De Kloof for my husband's birthday and he loved every second. The African Cow was worth every penny of the surcharge but felt that the prices compared very much to that of the normal menu, so didnt get bargain we hoped for, would have been even better if they have thrown in some extras! Experience was great nonetheless
