Skye Bistro is a fine dining restaurant set in the heart of the exquisite Kwa-Zulu-Natal Midlands. From beautiful log burning fires in the winter evenings to watching the sunset from the veranda over the rolling lawns of Fordoun; Skye Bistro is the perfect place to have a relaxing sumptuous meal. For the more health conscious to those seeking more decadent treats, we cater to all needs.
At Skye Bistro we use fresh, mostly local produce. Chef Lorenzo Giliomee and his team take great pride in preparing all meals with care and attention to detail. Wine connoisseurs should be rather pleased with our private wine collection of over 63 local estate wines, sparkling wines and French champagnes all personally selected by owner Jon Bates.
Chef Lorenzo Giliomee
A recent addition to the team at Fordoun Hotel and Spa, Chef Lorenzo brings with him a wealth of experience gained through working at some of the top establishments in the country and stints overseas. Having graduated from the highly respected Christina Martins school of Food and Wine in Durban, South Africa where he studied under Christina Martin herself, Lorenzo started his culinary career at Critchley Hackle Lodge in Dullstroom. Moving on to positions in Israel and South Africa at Kapama Game Reserve, Sabi Sabi, Ivory Tree Game Lodge, Grootbos Nature Reserve, Sir Richard Branson’s Ulusaba Reserve, Little Switzerland Resort, Palmiet Valley Estate, Pearl Valley Signature Golf Estate, and more recently Exec.Chef & Culinary Lecturer at Three Cities/AHA Alpine-Heath Drakensberg Resort.
