About Qunu

Qunu is proudly named in honour of our most admired and beloved elder statesman, former President Nelson Mandela’s country home in the Eastern Cape. Woven lampshades cast an ambient glow over rich red tones accentuating the carved wooden interior. Hanging gardens bring the outdoors inside, with doors leading out onto the terrace shaded by fig trees. With the Qunu 'all-day' menu, Executive Chef David Higgs and his team have created a selection of superior dishes with robust flavours and what he likes to call an honest approach to cuisine.
It is a menu that warms the soul but is not fussy, obviously using only the finest, freshest ingredients. They draw inspiration from their individual experiences in creating a culinary journey based on contemporary and classical ingredients and techniques from around the world and not forgetting the intriguing flavours from Africa.
The chefs have taken the flavours and ingredients you will recognise and added their own special twist to bring in an element of surprise. The Saxon Sommeliers share their passion and pair the dishes with wines from renowned local and international estates.
