Found the Salad starter lacking in feta cheese - however was fresh and tasty and perfect portion. Both main courses were perfectly cooked. The pork was very nicely done and the Duck fantastic. We recieved vegetables with the meal, which were fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately the deserts were a bit of a let down as they had run out of berries for the Eaton Mess and the chocolate mouse had been over mixed and was a little grainy.
Otherwise overall a great meal experience.
A deinite must for an enjoyable meal. I must also comment on the Wild Fig Pinotage, which was very light, fruity and palletable.
So a big thumbs up from me.
Pleasant dinner, nice service staff, nice venue - although it was a little chilly but to be fair it was really cold out.
Lunch was of a high standard. Main courses of duck and trout were tasty and the vegetables served were good. Service was friendly and efficient and the the sweet choices were enjoye -especially the pannacotta

We visited during Restaurant Week and looked forward to choosing between two main courses & three deserts at a special price. We ordered both main dishes. The salmon trout was not at all what we expected. It was not a salmon steak but a triangular sliver of fish (less then 1cm thick). We had looked forward to a succulent salmon steak but this was not to be. The duck confit had lots of small bones attached to the thigh (these should have been removed) which resulted in one guest having to fish bones out of his mouth constantly. Maybe the regular menu is more promising. On a more positive note the setting is beautiful!
It was wonderful to experience great service and food for a change, in a delightful setting.

The Wild Fig Restaurant and Bar is situated on the historically significant site of the Valkenburg Estate. Built in 1770 by Cornelis de Waal, it is one of the oldest surviving farm houses along the Liesbeeck River.
The Wild Fig Restaurant is situated on a newer part of the Valkenberg Manor House and our fully-licensed bar is situated in the original barn which is a section of the National Monument.
