Average food but excellent service. The loud background music and ambient noise from the nearby construction work unfortunately ruined the experience. (Dessert was excellent and I could have had it for every course!)

Food was good but the fusion cuisine is heavy on the sauce and the cheese, leaving delicate Sushi flavours to drown.
Overall a nice night out. Service could be improved and food needs to be cleaner and more Japanese or not, the blend was uncomfortable.
Went during jhb restaurant week for the R175 deal. Included 1 starter, 1 main or 2 sushi rolls plus a dessert.
First food was dissapointing. The sushi pizza was the best thing eaten and that I would recommend but the sushi rolls were bland and confusing with too much inside each one and extras on top. The grille...

Overall I feel ripped off to have paid R175 for that food. I will not be visiting hashi again

But the first 2 choices of wines were sold out and so we had to have our third choice, which in the end was delicious.
Service was a bit odd, with the waitress not very attentive (she kept hanging out at the entrance of the restaurant with other staff). The ambiance was ok, but not for a formal evening out. Lighting was poor and it felt more like a fast food restaurant than a place to linger over one's food. Deserts were fabulous.
I originally made a booking for dinner, btu needed to change this to lunch. I was a little disappointed at the thought that the lunch menu was a little smaller in terms of choice. I loved the nice tough of an appetiser of chicken in a satay sauce. All the food was spectacular with spices that linger for a while on the palate. All ingredients were fresh, and i loved that sushi was presented on a beautiful wooden boat! The prawn curry was utterly heavenly - a very memorable dish, while the sushi was good, but lacked something that makes me not place it at the top of my best sushi list. However, with the good service, and very good food (dessert of tempura banana was dreamy), this has to be one of the best Asian food experiences I've tried in a while!
The only thing lacking fro me was ambience. The decor in the restaurant is beautiful, but the lighting lets the trendy decor down considerably and takes away from the sleek, modern, Asian inspired feel the restaurant should have. Such a pity, because I think if this was improved, the restaurant could easily be one of the go-to places to be seen at in Jhb.
