Overall, very enjoyable evening, in a classy, elegant space with excellent, restrained but attentive service and great food. If you like classic fine-dining in a refined, elegant setting you are unlikely to be disappointed. Cream of Fresh Forest Mushroom Soup was superb in both texture and flavour.

Roasted loin of lamb beautifully tender and cooked to perfection, very slightly pink but not in an off-putting way. The individual chops were trimmed to perfection and well presented on a delicious bed of roasted veggies and a pan reduction of jus.
Desserts hit the spot. Hot Chocolate baked (lava style) pudding nicely presented could have been runnier in the centre but tasty and attractively presented. The Rose and Nut Ice cream was the winner: a Casatta by any other name and beautifully textured, flavoured and presented.
One minor criticism; we found both soup and jus with the main course to be a little heavy on the salt. It did not spoil the meal but almost overtook the subtle flavouring in both cases. Quentin's is a Hout Bay 'evergreen' and deserves its reputation; a reliable, elegant, traditional fine-dining experience and one of Hout Bay's bests.
We had a wonderful evening with great food and service. As a bonus, there was a fantastic Hungarian trio playing. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Soup was great, hearty and tasty, my salad was very well presented tasty and imaginative. We both had the lamb with beetroot on a very interesting base, 10/10. My desert was excellent a mixed berry affair. my wife's soft hearted chocolate was sadly not soft hearted, it was hard in the middle. We had eaten here before and have had excellent food, this was not the usual offering. sadly we reported it and had little response? So they lost 10/10 for all, but for 5 they were exceptional and the wine list was good and the recommended wine we took and was great.
Good service. Warm brown bread. Good music. Rather small wine list. Lamb was good veggies were not great. Rather expensive. Two starters, four mains, two puds, two water, four glasses of wine , one port, one cappo = R1840. R460 pp.
