The setting was wonderful and we had a great evening.
The soup, starter and dessert could not be faulted.
For mains, the only “meaty” dish was the kingklip. Neither of us being vegetarians, we both ordered this. The fish was over cooked and dry, which was slightly disappointing.

Service was great but a bit too quick. At one stage we actually asked the waiters to hold off on our next course until we were ready, it still came within the next minute.
Although I don’t think this fine dining competes with the likes of a Luke Dale Robert restaurant or a Mosaic, it was excellent regardless. The service was fantastic and the people were friendly. The service was fantastic and the people were friendly. Most importantly, the food was well executed and the flavours really worked well together for each respective meal. I’ve been to quite a few restaurants like AtholPlace but those seem to get caught up with trying to be too fancy with their food and they forget about flavours and trying to satisfy their customers. Athol was a nice surprise, they have not traded quality and overall customer experience for pretentious overly complicated food and dining experience.

From the green soup which was tasty and multi-multidimensional. First time ive had Springbok añd it was tender, fillet like and not gamey tatsing at all. The best part of the meal was the kingklip which was an absolute Flavourfest... By the time the dessert arrived I was stuffed and hardly ate any...dark chocolate is not my favourite ( told you my taste buds were unrefined)so i skipped the Choc tart and just ate the sorbet and the macaron.
The staff are friendly, attentive and the place is relatively small and homely but very classy. Location is easy to find and very secure. Definitely will visit again.
We had an amazing dinner at Athol Place. The setting is beautiful and relaxed. The food was delicious. Definitely somewhere we would visit again.
Set in neutral tones with a pop of colour in the paintings on the wall and the upholstery, the décor is straight out of an interior design magazine. We sat outside overlooking the lush garden and inviting swimming pool, enjoying a blissful summer’s day. The restaurant menu is small but absolute value for money at R200 per person. For starters, most of us opted for the prawn and avo salad infused with tangy ginger and ponzu dressing. The tomato gazpacho with a smoky twist was equally good. Choices for mains were lamb rogan josh wraps and line fish baked in coconut lemongrass. We all went for the fish which was sea bass, cooked to perfection, delicately scented with lime oil. Only one choice for dessert. If you are a chocolate lover, you won’t be disappointed with the flourless chocolate pudding and honeycomb ice cream. Excellent wine list and attentive service. The Delaire Graff Chardonnay went wonderful with the food. A very pleasant Sunday afternoon indeed.
