For starters we enjoyed their croquette and prawns.
The croquettes, made from cured lamb belly, was deliciously flavourful and served with a carrot hummus and anchovy dressing.
The tempura prawns were equally delicious being served with an avocado mouse, ginger mussels and paw-paw salad. All components worked wonderfully together.
For mains we also enjoyed a lamb shank and pork belly.
The Spiced lamb shank was soft and fell off the bone. This was served with an aubergine breyani, charred carrots, Swiss chard and spekboom yoghurt. All components were freshly prepared and blended well together to create a great dish.
The apple glazed pork belly was nice and served with a mustard mash, grilled apples; butternut puree and garden fennel. Despite the great flavours of all the components on the plate the pork belly was a bit dry.
All dishes were freshly prepared and beautifully presented.
Lovely setting with a wonderful ambiance - food is great with special touches added to each dish. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Lovely building with beautiful gardens.
The starter and main courses were delicious but the dessert left a bit to be desired. The restaurant was very empty which made me think perhaps they should lower their prices a touch to get more seats filled. I did live their main course choices and struggled to decide which to have. The Seabass was perfectly cooked...

The restaurant was very empty which made me think perhaps they should lower their prices a touch to get more seats filled. I did live their main course choices and struggled to decide which to have. The Seabass was perfectly cooked. The building is beautiful but the ambience was lacking due to a lack of people which is sad as the restaurant has so much wonderful potential
It was a lovely, quiet evening out for my birthday. The setting is beautiful an different and the food was really great. Lots of variety and new items I haven't seen on another menu. Thank you for good service too.

About 16th Lintel
16th Lintel Restaurant
The 16th Lintel Restaurant at Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel is all about bringing people together. Everything about this brand new restaurant resolves around its name. The vibe, the décor, the ideals and the food.
The original homestead had a total of 15 support lintels. Keeping true to the Dutch architecture, Mr Malan expanded the building to what Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel is today. With that expansion, he added extra lintels. The first lintel added (the 16th one) was the start of a new era. We saw it fit to name the new restaurant The 16th Lintel, as it too is the start of a new exciting era.
A lintel is seen as a strong, supporting, upholding architectural tool that strengthens a building. The brand new restaurant and the committed team at Kleinkaap also carry those traits. Both the restaurant and the personnel aims to support, uphold and strengthen its visitors and diners. The restaurant name can be seen as the true catalyst of everything about it and inside it.
The 16th Lintel is a place where new ventures start. Friends planning a once in a lifetime trip, business partners shaking hands on a new deal, couples enjoying wine to celebrate their love. The possibilities are infinite.
