Having been a regular diner at La Vierge in 2013 and 2014, I looked forward to taking our overseas guests for a nice lunch in lovely scenic surroundings.
What a total disappointment it was and this was our first visit under the new restaurant management. The service was non-existent, the food took an age to be delivered, orders were mixed up and some forgotten. No salt and pepper on the table and only 2 serviettes between 5 of us. When we asked for more serviettes, a waiter dumped a handful in the middle of the table as if it were a greasy diner we were eating in. The Saugvignon Blanc was not quite chilled enough and one of our guests had 'Yellowtail' that looked and tasted more like a Cape Salmon or another kind of oily fish- despite the Chefs assurances that it was Yellowtail, none of us were convinced. Overall, it was a great let down and we will not be returning anytime soon!
Having champagne on the deck overlooking the beautiful Hemel-en-aarde Valley watching the sun set is a real treat. The food is of a very high standard. We really enjoyed the evening.
