From the start, in May 1996 it has been our goal to delight each guest with a superb dining experience in our warm, relaxing venue set in the heart of the glorious HELDERBERG countryside. We use only fresh, often organic and where possible local ingredients to prepare our dishes.
They are inspired by SOUTH AFRICAN favourites and flavours from around the world. The fresh seasonal and inspirational menu changes almost every day, the main menu four times a year.
Had 3 wonderful courses at Winery Road for R250 each. We started with calamari with Chinese style vegetables and smoked springbok. These were followed by a wonderful rump steak with chips and lamb rissoles with spiced yogurt. Wonderfully moist rissoles and a really tasty yogurt sauce. For desert chocolate chocolate chocolate was a lovely chocolate cake served with chocolate sauce and ice cream and a lemon tart which was beautifully tart.

I reason I like Restaurant Week is that I get to discover new places, this restaurant turned out to be a lovely surprise. We were the first Restaurant week guests our new waitress had served so there was a slight confusion around how the menu worked. I felt the manger should have perhaps assisted in this case due to the menu being served different to the norm. But service was still great, food was fantastic. Great place for children. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

Dinner at 96 Winery Road on Friday night 20 October. For starters, one person had the Springbok Carpaccio, 2 had the Panko Crusted Calamari Steak and one had the Soup of the Day which was a sweet potatoe and carrot soup with coconut milk. For mains, one person had the Penne Pasta with butternut in a white wine cream, 3 had the Grilled dry aged Rump Steak. For dessert, one had the Lemon Tart, 2 had the Classic Crème Brule and one had the Trio of Fruit Sorbet. Food overall was good, steak was well prepared. The person who had the soup as a starter raved about it. Only complaints were that the fruit sorbet was delivered very late, the others were almost done eating, and the Crème Brule consistency was not quite right.
The waitstaff were friendly and efficient apart from that one issue, food for starters and mains came out of the kitchen promptly, no waiting for dishes.

A very niece experience. The food was great - the soup was out of this world.
Although the service was good and friendly, one never felt that they put in a extra effort to make it more special.
Excellent value for money.

The service was slow and we waited ages to place a drinks order. Ended up getting the drinks at the same time of the first course only. Food was quick and tasty, but nothing extraordinary.
