Lovely setting, however, the food was disappointing.
The tapas-style starters were lacklustre. Everything needed seasoning.
The "pickled squid" was rubbery and tasted of NOTHING.
The Chickpeas and Chorizo were underwhelming.
The Ceviche was messy and soggy.
The baked feta and olives were tasty, as was the roll and citrus butter. Alas, we were not served the parmesan wafer as promised on the menu.
The screwcap wine was so hot it popped off like an MCC cork - very weird to see a screwtop fly into the air when released.
The main course of beef, potato chips and "chakalaka-style" sauce was edible. The bacon on the beans was soft and unpleasant.
The pork belly was average. However, the cubed potato served alongside the pork belly was raw and inedible.
The melange of desserts was also disappointing.
The malva had a strange burnt aftertaste (perhaps the sauce was overdone).
The "lemon square" was in fact not a lemon square but instead a lemon tartlet - although tasty it was not as promised.
The mushy chocolate concoction was tasty and rich - although we did not receive our condensed milk biscuit. Upon enquiring about the biscuit, the waiter came running back from the kitchen with the explanation that the "biscuit was doughy and the chef decided not to serve it". He had a plate of two lemon tartlets in hand as consolation. At that stage, we were lemon-tarted-out.
The coffee was rancid and had a very displeasing aftertaste. A definite result of poorly ground coffee beans and a lack of knowledge in the coffee-making process.

The Chef was fluttering throughout the restaurant all night, however neglected to provide feedback on the "lemon squares" and omitted biscuits himself.
Poor execution can only be attributed (according to our educated guess) to challenges in the kitchen and with the oven.
There is no excuse for under-seasoned fare or raw potatoes. Not to mention unpalatable coffee.
A round R1000 for 2 diners (sans the tip to the poor waiter who is not at fault for the food); knowing better now, we have ticked it off the list of dining options in Pretoria but will not return or recommend it.

Sultry setting with choice of inside or outside dining.
Platter option for starters was different with a few standouts and some dishes needing a tweak.
The snoek cerviche and feta and olive with brioche were super tasteful.
The squid, chickpea and chorizo combos fell short as the balance of flavors were lacking but interesting combos and with a little tweaking will prove to be winners.

The mains delivered in the protein dept but the dishes could do with an addition of some veg/color to elevate the overall offering.

The platter for dessert was varied and it hit all the notes from tart to dark chocolate.

Will definitely be back to try the full A la carte menu offering.
