Positives:
- great space
- friendly and professional front of house
- on the whole, the food was very good but just not quite excellent
Negatives:
- waiting staff could have been better at their explanations of what each dish entailed
- we went on a cold night and the room was cold, notwithstanding some gas heaters in use
- the quail was the least impressive course
- expensive for what it was
From the glass of MCC on arrival to coffee in the courtyard after our meal we received amazing service and the food was superb. The feast at the table is very generous - we loved the menu with its interesting tastes.
NCW was fantastic. Tasty, innovative dishes coupled with an attentive, friendly staff. The venue is also beautiful, I would definitely recommend NCW!
I loved everything about the place, the warm welcome, Justin and Phillip were really good hosts. The food was excellent, the service exceptional and very attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant is absolutely amazing.I will definitely be back.
Sophisticated and classy. Lots of care was taken with all courses. We had a lovely leisurely Sunday lunch.

About NCW Restaurant
Cuisine: Fine Dining
NCW Restaurant
Chef Ence Willemse, who has previously worked at award-winning restaurants Roots in Krugersdorp and Overture in Stellenbosch, has opened a new restaurant in Melville called NCW. In addition to the boutique eatery with a seasonal menu, NCW will offer a space for cocktail parties, exhibitions and pop-ups.
The style of food might be labelled fine dining, but Ence calls it ‘food with a story’. Part of that story is a focus on the provenance of the ingredients he uses, from the farm to his kitchen. This philosophy extends to the wine offering, each bottle of which has a great story to tell.
The Edwardian building that houses the restaurant overlooking Main Road in Melville has been lovingly restored. The chef lives in another restored residence on the property. This venue has been hard-won: Ence even put in a blue-collar stint to raise the capital he needed to bring NCW to life.
