Eash dish was well thought, presented beautifully. However some of dishes were not our liking - especially soup with mashroom ice creasm. The mushroom ice cream taste was very strong and over powering.
Overall we enjoyed experiance and food.
We had a very warm welcome and the great service carried on throughout. The food was delicious, though 3 of the 5 courses were vegetarian and I am a meat lover (but that is just a personal preference)
Amazing food. Amazing venue. And amazing service. I will definitely be returning soon

We tried NCW out for Restaurant week and were horribly disappointed. There were 2 main reasons for this:
1. NCW is marketed as a fine dining restaurant, as such you would expect a certain level of service from the waitron staff, which should at minimum include presentation of each course and an explanation of the meals when they arrive. This was inconsistent and it was clear that they were not briefed on the menu.
2. Out of the 7 courses we were only happy with 2. This was unanimous from our table of 6. By the time we reached course 3 which was the ceviche, we voiced our extreme disappointment with everything we had eaten thus far. There was no acknowledgement or consideration of our concerns. By the end of the evening we complained about our general disappointment and dissatisfaction, again our comments were shrugged off by the staff. This is a small restaurant, having heard that 6 of the diners were unhappy, surely a manager or the chef could have come to understand why? The disinterest in our complaints further frustrated us and were left the restaurant bitter and certain that none of us would ever visit again.
In Johannesburg there are too many other worthy restaurants to visit rather than having to spend your time and money at substandard establishments. At R500 per person, this was far from cheap and we thought of several other places we could visit and spend this money where we could get a delicious meal and experience.
NCW, you have all the potential to be a success, the venue is stunning and finishings are so tasteful. Put in a bit more effort with your food and diners and maybe you could try to be the fine dining establishment you market yourself as.

About NCW Restaurant
Cuisine: Fine Dining
NCW Restaurant
Chef Ence Willemse, who has previously worked at award-winning restaurants Roots in Krugersdorp and Overture in Stellenbosch, has opened a new restaurant in Melville called NCW. In addition to the boutique eatery with a seasonal menu, NCW will offer a space for cocktail parties, exhibitions and pop-ups.
The style of food might be labelled fine dining, but Ence calls it ‘food with a story’. Part of that story is a focus on the provenance of the ingredients he uses, from the farm to his kitchen. This philosophy extends to the wine offering, each bottle of which has a great story to tell.
The Edwardian building that houses the restaurant overlooking Main Road in Melville has been lovingly restored. The chef lives in another restored residence on the property. This venue has been hard-won: Ence even put in a blue-collar stint to raise the capital he needed to bring NCW to life.
