Being th first night of Restaurant Week we were excited to start off our culinary journey with this new kid on the block.

Dont trust your GPS its taskes you to the wrong place :(...anyhoo we finally got there and the place was typical of all the new establishment, metal, concrete jungle vibes but the chairs are super comfy.

Open plan kitchen,you see and hear everything...Ideal for a romantic dinner as they havent forced more tables to ensure more bums on seats.

They currently dont ahe their liquor licence but do allows you bring along your over 18 drink of choice, their coffee is killer though,loved it!

Onto the food, there isnt any one thing that stood out as clear winner for anyone at our table, if I am being honest we were quite underwhelmed. The food in general lacked seasoning. It looks very pretty and the price for the evening and portions size simply didnt make sense to us.

Diners around us all seemed to be happy and this one we simply pegged down to perhaps we expected too much.

We do however wish Anouchka Horn and Neil Swart and their team well and we hoping to go back in a few months with better feedback.

About Belly of the Beast

Chef's Anouchka Horn and Neil Swart offer a daily tasting menu for lunch and dinner.This is a nose to tail eatery, using sustainable farmed whole animals and local seasonal ingredients.

The menu changes daily and is made up of what the chef's can grow, find, source or steal. There are no menu options or set amount of courses. All you do is show up and trust them to satisfy with their seasonal fair. They serve anything from 5 to 8 courses.

The 20 seats make for a very personal dining experience, as they do everything from cooking the food to pouring the wine.

1. Do I need to pay upfront?

At most restaurants, you can make reservations for free and cancel them without any charge. You'll settle the bill when you dine at the restaurant. However, some restaurants may request a small deposit, and they will send a prepayment request via Dineplan to confirm your reservation.

You will receive a confirmation for every reservation within a few minutes at the email address you provided. Haven't received anything? Please check your spam folder.

5. How can I change my reservation?

6. How can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation from the confirmation email: Click on 'Manage Reservation' in the email and then click on the 'Cancel Reservation' button. 7. Is cancellation free?

Yes, you can always cancel for free.

If you have made a prepayment via Dineplan, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your reservation. The amount you paid in advance will be automatically refunded to your account. Refunds through Dineplan should be resolved in communication with the restaurant, and we are not directly involved in this process.

8. Until when can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation online up to 8 hours in advance, or by phone up to 1 hour before your reservation time. However, we kindly request that you cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make your reservation.

9. What is Restaurant Week South Africa?

During Restaurant Week South Africa, you can indulge in a fabulous 3-course dinner at over 140 of the finest restaurants in South Africa, starting at ZAR 295.00 per person. Restaurant Week South Africa is held twice a year, in Autumn and Spring.
