Breathtaking views, lovely service. the waiters were attentive. The food was not that great, we had a 3 course and really were disappointed. It was nothing exceptional.

The Restaurant Week initiative has attracted us to visit for the first time, and enjoy the curated menu, which is three courses. We were always intending to visit, it had developed a reputation, a couple of years ago, for it’s neuro-gastronomy, which challenged perceptions and the senses. However, nowadays, it’s back to excellent flavours with a young chef from Zimbabwe. Our three courses were innovative on the eye, and in their presentation. I think my veggie wife shaded it with her coconut and lime dessert, it was sublime! The dining room is light and airy, chilled mist comes from the surrounding pergola, it’s very vibey. It was an excellent, fun and memorable meal, sadly our last of this year’s Restaurant Week. If the idea is to get you out to restaurants, discover new ones, enjoy dining... what a great success, the best one yet! Happy days, yummy food!

I did not opt for the wine pairing but the sommelier included the tasting regardless and he added a few more wines - including the Quoin Rock Shiraz both the 2015 and 2016. Once you have tasted these two, you will know why you need at least one of each in your collection. I am kicking myself that I did not write down the sommelier's name but the is the gentleman rocking the suit. Thank you Ms Mimi - you certainly are the Diamond of the Season. The dishes are intricate and not easy to explain but you did that flawlessly. A huge thank you to the chef for taking a moment during a busy lunch to explain the sorbet to me and I will remember this for a lifetime: "Developed to leave your palate and mouth bone-dry in order to appreciate dessert.'
We celebrated our wedding anniversary by having a nice lunch at Gate restaurant. We were welcomed with a nice glass of champagne and had a fantastic 3 course lunch with surprising food. Beautiful chef’s creations!

Welcome to Gåte, imagine a culinary adventure that circumnavigates the world, an adventure filled with surprises, one which captures your imagination and engages your senses. This is the promise of their Quoin Rock dining experience at their restaurant Gåte, pronounce gah-tey. But there is a playfulness to the name too. The Norwegian origin of the word translates as ‘the entrance of a labyrinth’ or a ‘riddle’ symbolising a gateway to an extraordinary dining experience and a delightful puzzle to be decoded.
