Had a very pleasant evening. Waitress was wonderful. Food the starter prawn gratin and fish were delicious. Desert the malva pudding was ok.

We had lunch at The Grill Jichana which is a beautiful, sophisticated restaurant in Rosebank, especially lovely at this time of year looking out at the Jacaranda trees in full bloom. It was quiet with mellow music so it was a relaxed vibe. The service was excellent and the food good. My husband had beef carpaccio and peri peri baby chicken which he said was excellent, his only gripe was that the chicken skin was not crispy. I had fillet steak which was well cooked but a bit grisly, unexpected for fillet. I had a dessert of berries and ice cream which was refreshing but the berry coulis was left off. Overall a good experience, we would go back there.

The Grill Jichana, located at Southern Sun Rosebank, boasts robust flavours of the African East Coast spice route complementing succulent cuts of meat, chicken and fish creating the essence of ‘eating good’ or Jichana in Swahili slang. The perfect venue for lunch, dinner or afternoon drinks soaking up the Rosebank view from the terrace.

Dishes are created with flair, flavoured with fragrant cassia, cardamom, turmeric and other heady spices and prepared using the freshest ingredients.
