What people say about Perlemoen
So much more than the perlemoen …a true fine dining experience in Hermanus
It was our first time at Perlemon but we come back very soon. A very welcome from the whole team and our waiter Tawanda was very friendly. We had the Pan-fried Abalone as Starters and the Slow Roasted Pork Belly and the Seafood Penne Pasta as Mains. We also added a Prawn and Avo Salad from the daily Lunch Menu. It was all cooked to perfection. Definitely worth to drive to Hermanus.

About Perlemoen
Cuisine: Seafood
Perlemoen, in Hermanus, is the only restaurant in the country that specialises in serving freshly caught perlemoen. This new eatery is set on the water's edge in the Old Harbour and connects diners to the town's history through its food.
The Old Harbour, which was the first abalone hatchery in Hermanus, was declared a national monument in 1970 and later proclaimed a museum. The Old Harbour is near the town centre, surrounded by other restaurants and markets.
Perlemoen offers a verstile, evolving specials menu dependent on which fish is caught or when another abalone dish has been created. From tuna ceviche, yellowtail carpaccio and Perlemoen Koekies to the “Old Harbour” affogato, you’ll want to experience them all. A must-try is the Perlemoen Benedict: a toasted muffin served with creamy abalone hollandaise, topped with bacon crisps.
Take a stroll down to the harbour's edge: you’ll discover the Old Harbour is now a space where locals and visitors can come to connect to its history through fresh abalone whilst enjoying some of the best views Hermanus has to offer. Situated in the rock face, with waves crashing just a few steps in front, it’ll make the steep climb back to the top worth it.
