Our night out at Authentic Q was incredible. The restaurant deco, ambiance, drinks, service and the food was on point. The owner was the cherry on top. He was kind and lives up to his brand Authentic.

Authentiq florida road - a truly african foodie experience. They have game meat and chargrilled touch to each meal.
We booked for the 4 course meal for restuarant week.
The amuse bouche was a bruschetta that was absolutely delicious.
For starters we had the prawn salad and chicken livers. Apparently it had harissa spice according to chef ndumiso mncwabe(a masterchef contestant and the owner) It was smooth and had so much dimension- very different delicious flavours fused together.

Our mains were the porkbelly and cape salmon. Honestly we were quite full by then but we still had half of each meal. The food was beautifully presented and flavours were on par.

The other showstopper was the avalance dessert. It was a brownie, topped with icecream then covered in a dome of meringue. Soft fluffy marshmellow-like meringues. Hmm...I still can feel and taste it in my mouth.

We met the owner after the meal and he was so friendly and gave us more info about the restuarant and how the meals and cocktails were inspired. That was the cherry on top for me.

Right next to the restuarant,is a bar. Completely chilled, laid back vibe compared to the classy, soft restuarant vibe.

A must-try for restuarant week. These food items arent on the usual menus yet.

I did expect a crispy skin on the duck and a little sugar to be added to the meringue to get rid of that eggy taste but overall everything was delicious and I really enjoyed my meal.

Note- wear your eating pants hahaha
