However, the only bad experience was the bill at the end. We discovered that the menu we had of R249 per person (Starter and a main meal) could have been R90 per person cheaper if we just booked and attended instead of doing it through the Restaurant week promotion! It felt a bit of a rip off.... ending up with a bottle of wine (very expensive if you know it is only R85 in the shops and we pad nearly R180) plus an extra 1 x cappuccino and a desert that we shared, plus a 10% tip we end up just under R900 for the lunch for 2. I think we will not do Restaurant week again as our previous 2 Restaurant week promotions were exactly the same experience! Good food, good restaurant but very pricy in the end.
Had a lovely 3 course meal at The Baron Irene. Overall service was great and we were pleasantly surprised with each course. Very tasty and generous portion sizes for mains and dessert. Thank you for a great evening.
The steak my wife had was cooked to perfection. The beef patty on my bun less burger was extremely tasty, and onion rings and chips were nice. There was nothing special regarding the plating and The Baron is not a fine dinning restaurant. We go there often and have never been dissapointed.
Food was delicious, from starter to dessert. We enjoyed every serving and the food was filling. A beautiful atmosphere and outstanding service.
I did not like the sweet potato fies which were served with the buttermilk chicken
