Ate here last week, it was a pity the restaurant was almost empty. The restaurant is a bit overpriced on both wine and food menu. We had a lamb shank, which was a bit tastless and to expensive for the quality. The bar upstairs is nice, but set up is to wide, should be more cosy.

Everyone was very helpful however and after a very short wait at the bar our party was accommodated. One of us required a wheat-free meal and the waiter was very helpful in checking which dishes were wheat-free and which sources/sides would have to be omitted. The Cape Malay lamb soup was unusual and very pleasantly spiced, and the creme brulee was very rich and creamy. We received just enough attention and were otherwise able to chat. Overall I would say Five Flies is a good place to catch up with friends and have a great meal.
Just as nice as the 'Vijf Vlieghen' in Amsterdam yet very different! Absolute must when you visit Cape Town!
