Aside from the horrible acoustics in the loud, small, overcrowded dining rooms, the service and food I got there was astoundingly bad. I ordered a chicken schnitzel which was a flattened out fried piece of dried out meat that had the consistency of shoe leather. Two people at our table tried it and couldn’t eat more than one bite. I had trouble getting our waiter’s attention for anything so I told another server I couldn’t eat it and wanted something else. They agreed and after that the maître d apologized profusely and promised the new dish promptly. After that the cook came out of the kitchen with my chicken schnitzel in hand and said it wasn’t dry because she had cooked it. Two of us disagreed with her but she still wanted to argue about it. I guess she is new in business and isn’t familiar with the maxim « de gustibus non est disputandum » or « the customer is always right ». Finally she went back into the kitchen. After making me wait almost a half hour, the waiter came and told us the kitchen was too busy to make another dish for me to eat but they would take it off the bill. I was happy with that because I was worried the chef would spit in whatever I ordered as a replacement.
This is one of the few remaining restaurants where you need to try out their food to have your own verdict.
In my opinion the atmosphere, the interior and the service is beyond enjoyable and let's you leave feeling happy and refreshed.

I always note everything about my dining experiences down. here goes: I had steak tartar as a starter and my wife the norwegian salmon. Both good. as main I had the chicken (too fatty) and my wife the Boeuf Bourguignon on Mash (very good). Good vibe, service not always fast (we drink fast I guess) and it could be cleaner everywhere... All in all good experience.
We went to The Duchess of Wisbeach as they were one if the restaurants on Restaurant Week. We had a fabulous evening and the food was superb especially my husbands casserole dish of the day. The waitress knew her menu and was very helpful in us choosing from it. It was very busy and vibey. We will definitely be back to sample more.
