The starter salad was superb, as was the creme brulee- one of the smoothest with the most delicate surface! Most of us had the pork belly which was absolutely delicious and perfectly done. The one friend who had the fish also thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all a fabulous dinner experience in a beautiful setting.
Welcome was very unorganized. We booked for a menu through the restaurant week. They served us the a la carte menu. Fillet was actually a sirloin without any remarks from the waiter. They actually served the sirloin with the words "Here is your fillet!". No explanation when the food was served to the table. Quality of the food was good though.
We were a little disappointed with Reubens, especially compared to our previous visit. Firstly, the Restaurant week 2 course menu for R145 was extremely limited. Only Chicken livers for a starter, two mains (gnocchi and pork belly), and only one choice of pud (Amarula malva). If you don't like chicken livers (and...

Only Chicken livers for a starter, two mains (gnocchi and pork belly), and only one choice of pud (Amarula malva). If you don't like chicken livers (and I'm sure many people, including me, don't) you were left to have a main and a pud. As a result, three out of four of us ended up not ordering the Restaurant Week menu at all and because of that our meal came to more than we had anticipated. Also, the cheapest bottle of SB was R175. Absurd!
We were NOT pleased with the special offer of Restaurant week , as that gave ONLY a set menu with a certain price that is the same as you will take the 3 dishes from the card.
So our question is what is the specific benefit of Restaurant week ??

We had a pleasant evening , but we could have that also when we didn't book it under this Special Offer , so for us a bad way of attracting people to your restaurant.
We drove to Franschhoek , as we could also go to the on in One & Only ( coming from Hout Bay !! ) but this one was NOT part of Restaurant Week as we called them before !!
Waiting a reply .

Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient thus she wasn't a problem~
the atmosphere was okay as we were in a tiny space in a smaller room off the main room~

About Reuben's
From the moment our restaurant has opened its’ doors, we’ve been blessed by a steady stream of accolades and awards. Thankful as we are for these, we still prefer to keep things simple and let our food and service do the talking.
Like the cuisine, our restaurant exhibits a homely yet sophisticated atmosphere where our guests can enjoy their meals in an unhurried setting. Apart from the eclectic, regularly updated menu that lists a good number of Reuben’s favourites, specials of the day are scribbled on three large chalk boards against the wall. Like all of our meals, these specials are created to take advantage of the freshest ingredients as they become available and dishes are created on the inspiration of our chef.
The expansive wine list boasts a fine selection of wines, from the region and elsewhere, to accompany the fine fare. Should you wish to have a few drinks before or after your meal, the cocktail bar offers plush seating or space at the bar where you can rest your drinks on the wing of a vintage cargo plane.
