Still one of the best in Gauteng. Excellent service and food makes Roots an experience not just a restaurant.
Every plate is a work of art! Beautiful to behold, and delicious to eat. However, you may need to stop for a burger on your way home. Portions are scant.
The food was delicious and creatively put together with great presentation. The service was excellent. I enjoyed the wine pairing option with the meal.

The menu consisted out of 4 courses. The first course was very bland and missed that crucial part to bring out the taste. The second course again was fish - but somehow also fell short (I got the feeling it was not thoroughly unfrozen? It reminded me of the frozen fish you by at Spar and just pop into the oven frozen (well this is how I experienced it). The third course was pork neck and pork belly. This was a nice dish. The dessert was also nice.
I believe the wine pairing was not great and the not all the pairings worked. The amount of wine given was indeed just 2 sips.
I am aware the previous head chef left and maybe we just became to accustomed to the previous standards, but hope that in the future the food and wine pairing will improve back to the high standards that the establishment has become known for.
