We come regularly to the Balata and enjoy often the wine dinners. The service is always exceptional and the atmosphere amazing. Although not every dish is up to my personal taste I cannot fault the food quality at all. Prepared with attention to detail and most definitely delicious! I have tried many meals that I would have never imagined and often was surprised by the combination of flavours. We will keep returning.

I felt the waiter could have explained the menu before we made our choice. for starter there was octopus and crocodile (very limiting for people who are not adventurous with their food). The mains were also disappointing, cos it was mostly meat on the plate and hardly no veggie. had to order extra sauce on the side as the meat was dry.

Dining at Balata was lovely. The atmosphere and ambiance of restaurant was exactly what I had hoped for. Lovely meals- all our plates were all clean!

My partner and I were not happy with the restaurant's set menu for Restaurant Week.
We were both highly disappointed.
We ordered the Duck and Fish for the main course. Both dishes were unsatisfactory.
Fish and the mash on the plate was also dry, the sauce presented was insufficient to make up for this.

The duck for my partner was not cooked properly.

The dessert was not appealing at all.

The positive was the presentation and the service.

Thai prawn and papaya salad, braised oxtail in red wine and Salmon Vichyssoise. Sounds mouth-watering? It certainly is. Entertaining options at The Fairway Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort are aplenty, but Balata Restaurant deserves the first mention. Offering a variety of seating arrangements, vibrant décor colours and modern fireplaces, the restaurant is famous for its outstanding breakfasts. Light business lunches are popular, but Balata is certainly known for its exquisite fine dining under the leadership of Executive Chef Jean-Pierre Siegenthaler. The Sunday buffet lunch is a culinary feast not to be missed and romantic fine dining dinner next to the fireplace is high in demand.
