Wow, what a stunning setting. Countryside and gardens that make you want to stay longer. A first for us at Hartford House. Why did we not visit sooner? A spot not to be missed.

Cuisine good enough to Instagram to the world - fresh, alive with color and mouth wateringly delicious. Fantastic food and excellent wines - so many great wines you may need to stroll the gardens to sober up before heading home. And then there is Duncan Bruce! What an asset! He is the man to talk about the history of the house, the fountains, the wine/food pairing and the racehorse paddocks next door. We will be back and next time spend more time . Fantastico
I can't wait to go back there, everything was fabulous
This is quite frankly one of the best fine dining restaurants in South Africa.

THE CHEF AT HARTFORD HOUSE
Keegan Lock has had a passion for food from a very young age and decided to follow this path as a career. After completing his studies of the culinary arts at the age of 20, he started his career in the highly competitive and demanding Cape Town region and worked for almost a decade in some of the country’s most renowned fine dining establishments; refining his craft and expanding his influence of flavours and the influence of different food cultures.
Following his time in the Cape, Keegan moved to the Central Kruger, working for one of South Africa’s most prestigious 5 Star game lodges. He describes his time there as inspiring and challenging as his passion for fresh and local was put to the test in such a remote location. After completing 3 years of service in the wilderness, Keegan has now decided to move to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands to join us at Hartford, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, a deep passion for food and leadership to our culinary team.
