I really never knew Punchinello's existed and very thankful to Restaurant Week for introducing us to this place!
On my booking request sheet i asked for a romantic table, when we arrived we were seated in a cosy corner overlooking the balcony area and there were even rose petals on our table! What a fabulous touch!
3 course meal, service and ambience was impeccable.
We were given a set Restaurant Week Menu (it would've been nice to possibly pick between 2 or 3 mains as it was 1 set main you would be getting)
Starters consisted of a divine Meze Table - buffet style. Lots to choose from and the garlic pita bread with hummus was so delicious which was presented at your table.
Before mains were given a Mango Sorbet as a palate cleanser, I was very surprised as I haven't received a palate cleanser in years.
Mains was Beef Medallions, chorizo, polenta and wilted spinach. The beef was beautifully cooked (medium for myself and rare for my partner) the sauce was slightly more salty as the chorizo added to the taste but i don't add salt to any of my food generally. The wilted spinach was definitely too salty and was the only thing on my plate i didn't finish.
Dessert was a Trio of Tiramisu which was so so divine! South African, American and Italian version of the dessert. Small and light, it was the perfect ending to a great meal.
We took our our wine at a corkage of R90 which seems pretty steep but seeing it was a restaurant inside a hotel I thought it was reasonable.
Our waiter was amazing, very polite and we didn't have to pour our own wine as he was so on the ball!
All in all, a truly great experience. Thank you Restaurant Week & Punchinello's! We will be back for sure :)
