Good to visit for a Sunday lunch - which is what we did. Lovely atmosphere with indoor & outdoor seating. Helpful & friendly staff. The food was reasonable overall. Huge disappointment was the ostrich fillet & panna cotta :) , but I'll give them another opportunity to redeem themselves.

Every time I visit the Fig I am blown away by the quality of the dining. They have such a nice menu showing passion and originality. Awesome wine list and above all, such reasonable prices. I really love this place and have never been disappointed!
The food was tasty and the atmosphere relaxed. However, my husband ordered the duck for his main course and was rather disappointed to receive a salad, albeit a very tasty one, with a few small pieces of duck hidden amongst the leaves.

Waitron was spot on, but had the unfortunate job of disappointing us with the news that there was "no duck this evening!" - despite the menu being fixed since my booking three weeks in advance! Yes, they'd had functions that had unexpectedly used up all their duck reserves, but really? The buyer could have nipped out to Woolies and bought in some stock, surely? I'm just saying ... :-)

The Wild Fig Restaurant and Bar is situated on the historically significant site of the Valkenburg Estate. Built in 1770 by Cornelis de Waal, it is one of the oldest surviving farm houses along the Liesbeeck River.
The Wild Fig Restaurant is situated on a newer part of the Valkenberg Manor House and our fully-licensed bar is situated in the original barn which is a section of the National Monument.
