For our first excursion of Restaurant Week, we decided to kick this season off by visiting this restaurant situated in the Waterkloof Golf Estate, Waterkloof Ridge.
We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, who also attentively looked after us during our visit.
For starters they presented a delicious starter platter consisting of a Snoek cone with pickled ginger sauce (delicious and packed with flavour); a Pork Belly Samoosa served with a smoked tomato ketchup (the samoosa was freshly made with crisp pastry bulging with a great tasting pork filing, the delectable smokiness of the ketchup being addictive) and some haloumi (lightly fried rolled in herbs). A great flavour combination to start any meal.
For mains we had the Beef burger and Springbok and Lamb Pot Pie.
The Burger consisted of free-range beef fillet strips which absolutely melted in your mouth. This was combined with layers of pesto, parmesan, rocket and sundried tomato - a refreshing flavour combination to compliment the high quality of the beef. The chips served on the side were freshly prepared and tasty.
The Pie, made in a steel bowl was packed to the brim with meat, and was equally flavoursome and delicious, being topped with a lovely home-made crust.
For deserts we selected each of their 2 choices - a malva pudding and lemon merinque.
The frozen lemon meringue, was fresh and flavourful. The watermelon and mint sorbet served with it was beautifully refreshing and tasty.
The malva pudding was unfortunately dry and the spoon of butterscotch sauce could not save it from the cakiness of the pudding. The home-made vanilla ice cream served with it was creamy and nice.
A great start to our first outing of Restaurant Week
I had a Springbok & lamb pot pie with Marrow bone which was delicious
