The food and layout on plates was good. Starters were ok, but both my wife and I found the Pork belly main and Strawberry/Sorbet dessert really good. Overall, great ambience and the service was exceptionally good.

The service was friendly and just there when you needed them - not overbearing and I loved that they do not clear plates until everyone has finished eating, that is our worst thing in most restaurants. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only slight downside was the ambience, I found it a bit noisy but I think the volume of the restaurant doesn't help and the waiters were a little chatty with each other. But a lovely evening out.

"Great food"

The food at oneNineone was amazing, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our main course and dessert. The only negative's I can point out is our waitress was not really attenive and we were not given the option of siting outside, but we will go back to enjoy the delicious food on offer.

The service was a bit slow, despite the restaurant not being that busy - especially towards the end of the evening, the waitron was hardly anywhere to be seen. The food was absolutely delicious. The ambience was lovely - beautiful furnishings.

This is an incredible restaurant. Service is impeccable, friendly and not overly intrusive. I'd pay for that alone. It's almost telekinetic, once the thought pops up in your head, someone is there to assist you. Upon entering you are greeted with huge double volume ceilings that leave you feeling nice and airy, not cramped like sardines, just so there can be a few extra tables. The ambience is relaxed and perfect for a few glasses of wine or ale to release the stresses of the JHB rat race. A perfect place for an anniversary lunch. We decided to skip the starters and go straight to mains. My wife had the chermoula ostrich fillet, which just literally melted in your mouth. Beautifully presented with just the perfect balance of sweet, tart and savoury flavours in the ostrich neck croquette, brussel sprouts, polenta and whiskey plums. Being semi final day for the springboks in the RWC, I decided to go for something big, menacing and powerful. I chose the 500g rib eye on the bone, with a side of potato puree (mashed potato to the rest of us), which is the only part of this entire dining experience that left me disappointed. It is well known that if you get the basics right, the rest will fall into place. Unfortunately, my basic request of a medium steak did not materialize, and I was brought a tough, well done piece of meat, which quite frankly made me feel a little cheated, considering the price and that I have cooked better steaks myself. Be that as it may, and after pushing down the steak with a few ales, it was time for dessert. The wife went for the salted caramel apple tarte tatin, which was delicious and well balanced with its delicate flavours. I tried the warm banana cake. Sweet, warm and bursting with flavour, with a pecan butter ice cream on the side and topped with a sprinkling of honey comb. A fine ending to any meal, and will definitely have me returning to try the rest of the menu. Had it not been for the steak, this is a 5 out 5 establishment.
