Such a superb afternoon lunch at the View! The attention to every detail in the food, service and restaurant sets it apart from the rest. The food truly deserves praise - every dish had original flavor combinations that were perfectly balanced and delicious! A perfect way to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, thank you!
There is just something about being at the four seasons that just screams elegance and luxury. The service from moment you walk in till you leave is outstanding.

The restaurant week menu offered choices on each of the 3 courses so something for everyone, in addition breads were served, an amuse bouche, palette cleanser and tea/coffee to end. Each dish was delicately flavoured, beautifully plated and went down well. The springbok carpaccio and seabass stole the show. There was a slight error on dessert but this was well handled and immediately taken care of by management and chef.
Definitely looking forward to being back.
What an absolute treat! From the venue and its unparalleled panoramic view of the Johannesburg urban jungle, through to the 10 star service and food, this was by far my most enjoyable experience. Loved everything and felt completely pampered and taken care of.
The service was great, especially since they were kind to my toddler and gave him more dessert! The express meal was a good idea. The mushroom consume and dessert were delicious plus the little sweets at the end were great. The other food was okay. And the wine was way overpriced! Generally had a great time.
We arrived yesterday to what seems like a different world (right in the heart of Johannesburg).

Service by Carlos and his team: 5/5
Food presentation, taste & timeliness: 5/5
Ambiance/interiors: 5/5.
Onto our food:
Trio of beautifully presented breads with truffle-dusted butter.
Wild mushroom consomme with quail confit, herb omelette and leeks. *My ideal first course to warm us up on a cold day and lovely and light on the palate.
Carrot terrine with coriander pesto, orange reduction and wagyu biltong. The saltiness of the quail eggs, pesto and wagyu biltong complimented the carrot terrine perfectly!
Fresh hake in beer batter with tartar sauce on a bed of mushy peas and pickled turnips. My favorite course. The batter was cooked with a generous helping of pepper and the taste really permeated through the rest of the dish. This fish was cooked such an incredible standard that it literally melted in my mouth after each bite (I could have eaten it with a spoon if I'd wanted to)!
Glazed pork belly with ginger potato crisp on a bed of mushy peas and pickled turnips.
Coconut-lime mousse with fresh raspberry spume and white chocolate rocks.
Mignardises with coffees.
In short, to sum up an afternoon at View Restaurant: faultless.
*Recommendation: What an awe-inspiring day spent here with top class service, food and surroundings! We will return again and again... (but the next time I plan to bring my professional camera and lenses with to really do it justice!)
