We had an amazing time at Protege. This restaurant has been our my wish list for over a year and it didnt disappoint.
The service was outstanding, our server was very knowledgeable but also made us feel so at ease.. and that just set the tone for all the amazing food that followed! Every dish was a joy to behold and delivered in bold and well developed flavour as well.. we will be back!

Chef Jess at Protege is incredible with flavours and textures. The dishes were outstanding. Stand outs were the game tataki, tartare, leek risotto and waygu dumplings. Oh and the salted chocolate and cheese board!!!

About Protégé

Protégé is an exciting new casual fine dining eatery under the guidance of previous Eat Out Chef of the Year, La Colombe’s Scot Kirton.

Scot is proud to be part of the process of recognising young talented chefs and giving them the opportunity to put themselves on the map. In keeping with this, the restaurant was aptly named Protégé.

Jess van Dyk will head the kitchen team. Jess has been working closely with Scot and James Gaag for many years and was most recently the head chef at La Colombe.

The idea with Protégé is to keep it casual and comfortable. Jess is working with local suppliers to keep the menu as fresh and as seasonal as possible. “I could not be prouder of having Jess lead the team. She has given me so much over the years and now it’s time for me to help her achieve her dreams.” says Kirton.

You can cancel your reservation online up to 8 hours in advance, or by phone up to 1 hour before your reservation time. However, we kindly request that you cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make your reservation.
