Small and cosy restaurant on the corner of Kloof street, easy to miss. I enjoyed the starters more than the mains. Service was very attentive. Would go back again.
The food is amazing but the portions are small
Their meals are well prepared. They should however also have non-dairy deserts and more vegetarian or vegan dishes. Add more non-alcoholic drinks to their offering.
Great experience overall. My only other comment is that the decor isn’t great, although everything on your table is great! And chef makes up for any lack in atmosphere in his service - the food is devine!
The food was undoubtedly the star of the show. Some innovative takes on South African cuisine. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, whether that be the decor or some light music. It's clearly still a work in progress, but they're heading in the right direction.

About Chapter One
Cuisine: Modern, International
Welcome to The Mother City's newest chapter of restaurant culinary excellence.
Owners and Chefs, Eloise Martin & Jason Labuschagne, both came from humble beginnings but had bold and brave dreams to one day own their own modern, casual and multi-cultural dining experience right in the heart of Cape Town's food district. But little did they know that finding employment at a local wine farm is where they would meet and their life's journey was set in stone.
Eloise, who entrenched herself within the food and wine industry fresh out of high school, found herself interning at De Grendel Wine Farm located within the Durbanville Wine Valley on the outskirts of Cape Town working alongside Jason and Brandon Erasmus. Upon completing her final year at CTIA Culinary School, Eloise became the Head Pastry Chef at Bloemendal Wine Farm, also located within the Durbanville Wine Valley.
Jason, who fell in love with the fast-paced adrenaline rush of a kitchen at an early age, found himself working under Chef Garth David at De Grendel Wine Farm. A couple of years later, Jason was offered to be part of the team to launch the now-iconic Ritz Hotel along the Atlantic Seaboard in Cape Town.
In 2019, Eloise & Jason decided to take the plunge and together launched their first food venture called Chef on Call, a business dedicated to catering events both on and off-sites. And in 2020 bought Café Paparazzi located along the famous St. Georges Mall strip.
Fast forward to 2021 and here we are ~ A new start, a new beginning, a new chapter that starts at Chapter One and we welcome you to be a part of this journey.
