A home where everyone is welcome. To dine in Nelson Mandela’s home is special and even though he is no longer with us , his Ubuntu spirit is present from the second you arrive. You feel right at home , the service was outstanding, the food was excellent and they sure know how to make a mojito. We had the set menu for restaurant week and chose all the options. Homely meals were served full of flavour , beautifully plated and the perfect portion sizes. You can taste the love that was poured into your meal. Everyone is treated as part of the family which makes the whole dining experience so much more special. This is a little gem you don’t want to miss.

We had a delicious meal at Sanctuary Mandela - compliments to the chef as everything we tasted was superb. As it is tucked away and not part of a shopping mall or open to foot traffic the restaurant was a bit quiet and lacked a bit of ambience, however the staff were very attentive and made the experience most enjoyable.

In memory of his love for food, our fine dining restaurant serves as a tribute to his favourite dishes as previously prepared by his long-time personal chef, Xoliswa Ndoyiya.

1. Do I need to pay upfront?

At most restaurants, you can make reservations for free and cancel them without any charge. You'll settle the bill when you dine at the restaurant. However, some restaurants may request a small deposit, and they will send a prepayment request via Dineplan to confirm your reservation.

2. How do I know if my reservation is confirmed?

You will receive a confirmation for every reservation within a few minutes at the email address you provided. Haven't received anything? Please check your spam folder.

3. I follow a special diet. Can the restaurant accommodate that?

4. Are drinks included in the menu price?

If you have made a prepayment via Dineplan, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your reservation. The amount you paid in advance will be automatically refunded to your account. Refunds through Dineplan should be resolved in communication with the restaurant, and we are not directly involved in this process.

8. Until when can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation online up to 8 hours in advance, or by phone up to 1 hour before your reservation time. However, we kindly request that you cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make your reservation.
