Unexpected place for a fine dinning restaurant. It is like a bubble in a urban/industrial area.
Nice and relaxing atmosphere.
the presentation, plating and preparation of the course are sumptuous.
Food wise, that was generally good, but there are some dishes that I didn't find very special.

the pre starters and the bread dish were not really my thing as they were too similar and too filling.
The forest fire and the Hen were excellent. Great creativity and composition and mix of flavors - unusual ingredients too.
The Bass and the beef were for me a bit too cooked
I loved the palate cleanser, from the preparation to the tasting.
Dessert looks simple, but it works quite well with a plate of the the traditional South African dessert, prepared a different way.
I didn't care about the absence of alcohol as I'm not a drinker, and I liked the idea of tea paring that they are offering instead.
Good experience Overall.

The variety of produce in the different courses & the culinary atistry were amazing. Each and every bite was masterful. We tremensly enjoyed the tea pairing. The dessert will stay with me forever. The passion with which the servers and chef explained and presented were remarkable. Truly worth of a return for the upcoming winter menu. And by the way; we did not miss not being served alcahol. In our opinion it would have taken away from the meal. If you are a foodie you should feel the same.

About The Happy Uncles

Happy Uncles: A Halaal Fine-Dining Restaurant
An exciting halaal addition to Cape Town’s burgeoning foodscape.
It’s not often that fine-dining and halaal go together, in fact Happy Uncles is a first for the Cape Town restaurant scene. The chic open-plan restaurant in the semi-industrial, urban renewal district of Salt River is the dream of chef Anwar Abdullatief (with co-owners Riedaa Manie and Fuad de Vries). Their business started as a production kitchen catering for events, before opening as a fine-dining restaurant in the first half of 2022.
Anwar gained his kitchen credentials at the likes of Cavalli, Jordan, Siba’s Restaurant and Rupert & Rothschild. All his fine dining experience is expressed here in fully halaal form, in chef’s tasting menus of 4-, 6- or 8- courses, with all the exquisite presentation, flavour flourishes, and theatrics you’d expect of fine-dining, naturally without pork or alcohol.
Savour complex and beautifully plated dishes such as charred broccolini with pesto, avocado, edamame and wild mushroom tea; west coast squid with dune spinach and smoked mussel velouté; aged beef sirloin with spiced bone marrow, and more, each menu complete with canapé and palate cleanser in true fine-dining special occasion style.
