Very good service combined with excellent food. Highly recommend!
The service is always outstanding because of the passionate staff. You can feel their love for their profession
All the accompaniments were excellent. Hake was a bit so-so and rump had too much gristle but that was rectified

Read full reviewThis year’s Restaurant Week is the best to date; to celebrate that fact, we started with one of the best, The Greenhouse. The 8 course African menu (if you include a small bread course, 'a muse’ bouche, palette cleanser and petit four) was made up of regional influences, namely Morocco, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa. It costs R550 pp and it was great to be able to keep the specially prepared menu at the table. The food is delicate, sophisticated and, especially, tasty. My wife is a veggie, her menu was unique rather than an adaptation of the meat/fish menu. Excellent service surrounds you, they are always ensuring the food is paced to your requirement and, while the room is chilly with protocol windows open on a cool evening, the ambience is one of muted lights, music and chatter. There is a R390 wine pairing for the meal, however the cocktail list is superb. When you consider that a glass of Constantia Glen “Five” costs R250, three of these excellent cocktails cost less. I’d recommend the Pisco Sour and Grapefruit and Pink Pepper Margarita, especially. We have booked 6 meals throughout the month of “Restaurant Week”, have we placed the bar too high with the first, can’t wait to find out?! Happy days, yummy food!
It was a lovely experience

About Greenhouse
Cuisine: Fine Dining
Conserving ingredient and foraging sustainably, the earth’s top soil is where everything grows. Hyper local plants and ingredients. Foraging on the beach for coastal plants. Food that tell stories, preserving local culture and history.
Chef Farrel Hirsch
I love finding new ‘foreign’ flavours and combinations that I’d never imagined would go well together. It’s not just about coming in for dinner at Greenhouse, it’s about the experience and how you feel during the meal and well after you leave the dinner table.
