Phenomenal experience had by all
Good food, great setting, even better views. Wine list bit overpriced.

The al fresco dining deck occupies a stellar position looking over the valley leading from Stellie to Franschhoek. The menu isn’t extensive, however, having the vegan menu to dovetail made the veggie options more plentiful. As you can see, well presented and, especially, the fillet of beef, incredibly generous. My only disappointment is the veggie meal costing the same as the meat menu, there’s neither need nor justification, and the table next door behaving like a film shoot. Restaurant maitre’d should stop this sort of distracting behaviour, it’s a meal, not a vlog!

Read full reviewThe food and surroundings were excellent. Only 4 small constructive criticisms. Firstly, we did not order water but the waiters came to each person asking if they wanted sparkling or still. As the bottles weren't branded, were kept in a central ice bucket and were refillable I assumed that it was complementary. I was therefore surprised to see several bottles charged to our bill. Secondly, when the water was poured they weren't wiped so they dripped ice bucket water everywhere (on my phone, cutlery etc) every time. Thirdly, the waiters did not know the ingredients of each dish and struggled to present them, which made it feel like we had trainee waiters. The last point of contention is 15% tip was automatically added to our bill and we were only told when we received the bill. Apparently this was because our party was bigger than 6 (we were 5 adults and 2 children), but we should have been informed in advance. Considering the feeling that we we had trainee staff, the high automatic tip felt inappropriate.
Great waiter, especially winepairing combination.
