The service was fantastic.
The quality of the food was very good as one would expect.
Stand out dishes the Creme Brule (Incredible), grilled prawns equally delicious.
Area for improvement, the look is classic but out dated.
Could use a revamp to ensure that you don't feel like you stepping back into the 80's (and not in a good way).
Overall experience was great, I would recommend.

I had the foie gras pate and my husband, the oysters. The presentation and flavor was lovely, nothing extraordinary but simple.
We then had the prawns for mains. The sauce was absolutely citrusy. I had mine with rice, and my husband with chips. the portion was not grand and his chips were drenched in oil.
For desserts, I had the malva. Again , nothing breathtaking, the usual square piece of "cake" cut from a large pan, soaked in syrup with a little bit of custard (not on the side but already poured over) Hubby had the chefs dessert which was rock hard ice cream tower with nuts on a bed of chocolate sauce.
I feel that the R300.00 set menu was not value for money and I will not return in a hurry.

Pigalle is just in another class when it comes to food and service. The set menu was limited and I can understand why because if you have to many choices - it will be analysis paralysis. My friend and I both decided on the steak with cheese mushroom sauce. If we werent in an upmarket place then both of us would have licked the sauce bowl.... I spread the sauce over everything.
Normally I ask for medium rare then you get medium but this time I asked for medium and it was perfect. At one stage both of us said we are satisfied but kept going cause good food cant be wasted and we dont know when us plebs would be in a fine dining environment (pizzas and burgers normally not MacDonald's (feeling sick thinking of it)) again.
When desert came, I opted for a fancy unpronounceable French ice cream cake with nuts and Swiss chocolate(well I thought it must Swiss) sauce and my friend the creme brulee. I had to beat the other side of the railway track manners into submission because I thought angels was dancing on my tongue.....
It was our anniversary and we could not have asked for a better way to spend it. Great service and delicious food
