Went for lunch at Karibu. Restaurant week menu was a bit limited with only two choices for starters and mains. Nevertheless these were all delicious dishes. My mom had the mussels starter which was lovely and I had the bobotie spring rolls- divine! Then mom had the ostrich fillet which was cooked perfectly and I had the peanut and sesame chicken kebabs- most tender chicken I've tasted! All this topped off with the most wonderful views. In all, a great lunch experience!

For me the point of restaurant week is to try something new. Experience rstaurants you don't normally visit and try foods you don't normally try. I'm not a fan of mussels, so naturally I ordered the mussels! I can honestly say that the sauce they were served in is the best I have tasted. It was a creamy garlic sauce with a touch of white wine. The portion was large for a started and the waiter brought extra bread sticks which had just come out of the oven - result? I was full before the main came!!

Main was ostrich fillet, which I ordered medium rare with mash. Good choice! The ostrich was cooked to perfection, served with an onion marmalade which complemented the food perfectly.

This was washed down with their house chardonnay - a generaous portion in a large glass - the way I like it.

Only crit I have is that some of the mussels still had small beards and could have been cleaned better. It is a small criticism though - for a non mussel eater, I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I was pleasantly surprised at the service we got at Karibu - I am so used to getting mediocre service at V&A Waterfront restaurants. It was refreshing to see our waiter being on the ball - quick and friendly with us and the other tables he served. We had the bobotie springrolls and the mussels as a starter - both were delicious. Such a big portion of the mussels. We both had the ostrich with mash - the ostrich was perfectly soft and delicious. We got freshly baked breadsticks when we sat down and when we had polished them off, we got some more... very delicious! We sat outside and it was perfect Cape Town weather and Table Mountain looked stunning - this really added to a delightful experience.
