"Quantity doesn't make quality"

The ingredients used were good quality, but the quantity was too much which doesn't make this dinner a fine dining experience.

The ingredients used were good quality, but the quantity was too much which doesn't make this dinner a fine dining experience.
The scallops as a starter (the reason why I chose this restaurant) soaked in butter and were too many, the piece of meat was potentially excellent but covered with a too big quantity of butter, which made it too rich and almost difficult to finish... The deserts (rooibos cheese cake and chocolate indulgence) were neither delicate nor subtle.
The ambience was very neutral, and can be improved with small details (fresh flowers instead of plastic ones)...
The service and waiters were however both very professional.
