I have been here before and the food was amazing but very pricey (and just for a main) - expected the portions for restaurant week to be small at the R300 price and not very memorable. I must say - that was this turned out to be the best evening of the week - great service, the place is always stunning with a fantastic ambience so I was not surprised by that. What did surprise me was the value for money on the price we paid - Each course was truly a work of art and magic on the palate. The drama and intrigue of each meal kept us entertained and we were so full by the main meal that we had to pack it to go after several attempts to take it all in. 5 meals later I was very satisfied and am an absolute fan of the place - and I would happily pay for that experience again....once in a while (because its still expensive so it would be once in a long while). shout out to the waitress again - she was brilliant!!

This place really has it spot on! The view, the decor and the all round great performance of the staff added to the a wonderful experience. The fires that burn to welcome you is a great touch on any night. The restaurant has a really unique take on recycling and uses old wine bottles as glasses and it works. We really enjoyed the food - compliments to the chef and his team for a great dinner service! The thank you message after our meal just shows that San restaurant goes the extra mile!

Firstly i must acknowledge our friendly hostess who found us a nice cosy place next to the fire...the ambience of the restaurant was spectacular.. it was perfect for a romantic night out... the starter of prawn thermadore was absolutely delicious... to my surpise the portion was quite large as well... the mains were also well received ,the waiter was kind enough to get the chef to substitute the pork dish for beef... and i quote my partner referred to it as one of the best pieces he'd ever tasted. Desserts were beautiful to the eye however wernt as pleasing to the taste... the cream that was served with the carrot cake had a rather strange aftertaste... over all our night was amazing...

On Saturday I phoned San Restaurant, regardless of the emails I received as confirmation of our booking. They didn't have a booking for us what so ever, I do keep Restaurant week accountable for this flaw. After various phone calls and arguments San Restaurant gave us a table, although they were fully booked, they had to give us a table outside, which was the best they could do. The food and service that we received was amazing, the ambience as well, but is was freezing cold. The poor table placing was the best they could do for us under the circumstance. If it wasn't for poor communication between San and Restaurant week, we would have been able to enjoy our evening indoors without any complaints. Thus to round it of, San Restaurant was amazing and the way the accommodated us was very professional, but I am very disappointed in the communication. My service remark is to San alone, as for Restaurant week -10.

We arrived early to have a sundowner as I know the venue is gorgeous. We were asked to move numerous times by waiters after the hostess had seated us. So be careful when arriving early. When we moved across for dinner everything improved. We had a great table outside where we had a beautiful view. The waitress was lovely and helpful, the food was out of this world and the ambience was stunning. Service was not slow or rushed, it was just perfect. Each dish was appetising and the perfect portion size. I went to two of what I viewed to be the best restaurants for restaurant week and this was definitely the winner.
