The friendly waiter made us feel at home in the beautiful rustic restaurant with views over the exuberant garden, which is more a paradise with a water features that brings peace to the mind
The well prepared Tapas starter and mains, with a real South African twist, came in South African size portions. Our favourites included (but was not limited to) the Blue Cheese smothered Snails, Deep Fred Chicken livers and Pork Belly. The owner, Maggie, was an excellent host and she talked us through the Tapas, the vision of the restaurant and function venue and music evenings that they present.
We will gladly return to sample the other tapas and other dishes on the menu

It was very quiet on arrival and lots of greenery all around. It's got many little "sections" be it inside or outside... or across the "water" or hidden in a little cave. Also a gallery inside with some lovely paintings on offer. Very cute for a romantic setup. It was quite calm until us ladies arrived. I think we really rang true to the name laughing chefs but we were laughing patrons and made quite a bit of noise.
We ordered our drinks there were a few good cocktails on the list but some weren't available. I ended up with the blue lagoon which looked so pretty. Another friend had the giggle juice which was nice but we didn't like the coconut on the rim.
On offer for #restaurantweek was a gourmet burger with fries. We added on some extras like bacon or blue cheese sauce or the tomato chilli chutney which hit the spot. The fries were also good. I loved the biltong that was on my burger. So if you see my pic it's like a tower of terror - burger patty with avo/bacon/lettuce/tomato chilli chutney/ biltong/ and onion rings. It all tasted really good but my burger itself was slightly raw on the one side and I would've preferred a slightly larger roll to compensate.
For desserts we had 3 options to choose from.. Orange baklava, coconut creme brulee or chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. All 3 of those items I eat but I am not fond of those particular flavours. So it was nice... but just not for my palate. I preferred the creme brulee the most.
Regardless we had such a lovely afternoon and it was so nice and relaxing sitting outside amongst all the plants and trees. Also a thanks to our waiter Siko for putting up with us crazy ladies for the afternoon and giving him a hard time with the drinks.
This was my first time visiting Laughing Chefs and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was welcoming and all the staff was very accommodating. The food was the best I have had in a very long time. The tastes and smells was truly unique. I would recommend Laughing Chefs to anyone!
The food was delicious and different from the usual and the service was good. The location/venue was not so much to my taste, as I prefer a more modern and vibey experience.
