It's an open kitchen, so you can see the chefs creating their dishes. It's amazing to see the care and passion they show when cooking and plating. The ambience went with the fermier name and the service was amazing - they even checked if the pace of the courses was ok, or if we'd like more time between dishes. We enjoyed every minute of our experience, including the non mainstream wines. I would definitely recommend a visit to fermier.

On this visit I had to make some special requests, as I am pregnant, but the chef was incredibly accommodating, serving me delicious food, cooked to specification. This is certainly still my favorite restaurant in Pretoria and they deliver on innovation, taste and service every time! Thank you for another wonderful meal.
Enjoyed the evening with great food, definitely will come back for more and recommend it to friend and family.
Another unforgettable evening at Fermier. Each plate of food was a work of art....a synergy of flavours! Evertying on the plate was fresh and complemented one another.the service was first class and the atmosphere in the restaurant was delightful.
The food was exciting and beautifully prepared! The chef explained the dishes very well and in a colourful way. The starter was too small for my husband, but the rest was generous and beautiful. The desert was tops! Beautiful modern venue, we only missed a candle on the table, the light is very low and we struggled to read the menu and appreciate every detail on the plate.

About Fermier
Cuisine: Fine Dining
Fermier is an attempt to create a restaurant which in future can become completely self-sustainable by creating an entire “ecosystem” from the fish and vegetables to the livestock, that suits our idea of responsible, conscientious farming (and restaurant) where even “waste” is turned into a functional part of the cycle.
In keeping with the idea of responsible involvement , the building has grown “organically” where soil from the area has been used to build rammed earth walls, poles as the skeleton and recycled wood for the cladding and doors, thus creating a “farm feel”. To complete the feel, all the crockery, tables and chairs have each been designed and handmade by artisans from the Karoo Yard. Elza designed and made the crockery from her pottery studio and the carpenter, Dawie, crafted the tables and chairs.
As for the menu, the idea is to close the gap between produce, farm, and the final product. Guests can see the produce growing, where it comes from and the versatility of each product. We strive to involve producers with the same philosophy about produce and create a dining experience where not only the tender cuts are used, but rather the whole animal (head to tail cooking). This will be created around the season and what we can grow and our ability to serve it in a fresh and exciting way.
