The service could have been better - our waiter try to hustle us for a bigger tip at the end of the night which put a damper on the experience
Overall, it was a good experience.
Great location. The day we went was 36degC but the restaurant is set up with all its doors opened so there's no air conditioning. I could see the appeal of the vibe for drinks, if I was not there for food. The layout is laid back and not fussy.

Upon arriving at Nomad Bistro for lunch, I was asked if I had made a reservation, which I confirmed but was still taken to sunken chairs. I told them again that I would be eating and would prefer a table instead. The manager was efficient and arranged one because there were only 2 other tables in use at the time. There was no menu up on the restaurant week website for us to see so we had no idea what our options would be. The manager explained that we would get a tapas and burger or a burger and dessert for the R150 restaurant week price. He explained that the dessert was a chocolate brownie with ice cream.
Our waiter took our drinks orders while we contemplated the burgers. The cocktail menu is expansive but with some hits and misses (the cosmo was too sweet, the mojito very good, the lemon drop was basically vodka and lemon twist, all a matter of taste I guess?). From the 3 of us, one opted for the tapas and burger and two opted for the burger and dessert. When the tapas of caramalised onion hummus arrived, it was underwhelming. We ordered the New Yorker (beef) and two Mumbai Snipers (chicken) which arrived in good time. It was okay, nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about. Upon scrutiny of the menu, we learned that the one burger was R95 and chocolate brownie R45 i.e. it would have been cheaper to not have ordered via restaurant week which costs R150 for two courses?! Some special. Not sure who takes the blame for this - restaurant week or Nomad Bistro?
We waited for some time before realising that they had forgotten about our desserts. When we enquired with our waiter he told us that our options were either a chocolate brownie or ice cream to which I informed him that his manager said that the dessert is the brownie with ice cream. We waited a while longer and then the manager came to our table and apologised saying that it appears that the batch of brownies that were being prepared were ruined and therefore inedible. And could he try and whip up something else? Hmm. No we obviously didn't stick around. We paid for the items ordered and left disappointed. Sadly average. There so many other better options available in the area so I don't think I'd be going back.
Very casual and a young crowd. The service was good even though the waitron was new. The food was good. Three out of 4 ordered tapas and all 6 dishes were good given the value prices. One ordered a burger. The wine list was good value; one did not feel ripped off. We were left to chat for hours with no interuptions....

Probably more vibey at night. But everyone had a good afternoon.
Upon arrival the waiter did not even know about restaurant week. We asked if they had a special menu but they did not. You could pick 5 of their Tapa's for the R250.00. When as asked if we could choose 4 and 1 dessert we were told unfortunately not.

The food was quite acceptable and some even quite good although I expected a bit more from a restaurant taking part in this week of food.
The ambiance was not bad but extremely noisy, so a really cool place if you are looking for a vibe but definitely not for a quieter evening.
